The APL has prepared a paper setting out its findings and recommendations following a short snapshot survey of members on the issue of supporting prisoners during remote oral hearings.
The paper was prepared in response to concerns raised by the Parole Board about prisoners being alone in a room during remote oral hearings and draws on the experiences shared by APL members from snapshot survey.
It considers the practical and procedural issues that can arise in these hearings and makes a number of recommendations for consideration by the Parole Board and PPCS.
