APL has today published a follow up report to Justice Barred, which revealed widespread delays and difficulties lawyers face in getting to see their clients in prison.
Justice Still Barred shows the despite the response to our first report that every prison has the facilities for video links with solicitors, practitioners are still finding many prisons point blank refusing to facilitate them. On-going delays in securing visits and their knock on effect of needing to delay legal processes cannot be justified when prison is so overcrowded that drastic measures are being taken to ease the pressure.
APL will continue to take this up with decision-makers and officials.
